Family Chiropractic’s Strategy for Chiropractic Care (or
Our Strategy for Chiropractic Care)

If you are experiencing pain, Family Chiropractic wants to help! We are dedicated to helping patients regain their lives back pain-free. Oftentimes, people do not seek help for pain until it gets really bad. We want to help at the onset of symptoms, so they do not progress. Family Chiropractic wants to help you feel better and get the relief you need.

According to the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM), “Chronic pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined. Back pain is the leading cause of disability in Americans under the age of 45.”

Dr. Okun understands this growing problem and specializes in pain management. Family Chiropractic believes in helping patients by utilizing the Care Model. There are generally three phases within the Care Model: relief care, corrective/restorative care and wellness care. Each phase is tailored to meet your unique needs.

Relief Care

The first phase is known as Relief Care. The objective in Relief Care is to help you feel better as quickly as possible and help reduce pain. In this phase of care, you are typically seen 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks. After this initial time frame, Drs. Okun will re-evaluate your chief complaint and decide further treatment goals.

Corrective/Restorative Care

The second phase is known as Corrective or Restorative Care. The Corrective Care phase focuses on muscles and tissues being healed to proper form which helps prevent further injury or pain. During this phase, Drs. Okun typically want to see you anywhere from 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months depending on the severity of your condition. After the corrective phase of care, Drs. Okun will re-evaluate once again to make sure things are progressing as planned.

Wellness Care

The final phase is called Wellness Care. Family Chiropractic wants to see all our patients attain and maintain this level of care. This is when your body is fully healed and only needing maintenance adjustments. During this phase of chiropractic care, it usually requires a quick visit 1-4 times per month based on your lifestyle and goals. It is still recommended to come in for periodic adjustments to keep things running smoothly and prevent future problems.

Our Why

Dr. Okun’s strategy for dealing with pain has resulted in a whole person approach to patient care which includes health promotion, disease prevention and therapeutic conservatism. According to the ACA, “The health care system as a whole is embracing wellness and prevention as never before as our population ages and the costs of caring for preventable and lifestyle-related diseases place ever increasing demands on society’s resources. Young people are more interested in maintaining their health and activity levels in anticipation of living longer. Insurers are providing premium rebates for those who join fitness centers and have annual physicals. Higher deductibles and co-pays are stimulating Americans to take more active roles in their own health, wellbeing and therapeutic choices.”

Family Chiropractic embraces this outlook of future healthcare and wants to partner with you working towards the wellness mindset. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding our approach to chiropractic care.
